No quick fix for AIDS treatment

By Heba Elasaad

Two out of five people who died of HIV/AIDS in BC between 1997 and 2005 didn’t access free health care that was available to them. For residents of Vancouver’s Downtown East Side, where the rate of infection is highest, homelessness, addiction, poverty, mental health and a lack of counseling services, are continued barriers to sustainable health care.
