Slideshow: Vaisakhi parade 2009

Vaisakhi, the celebration of the Sikh New Year, draws an audience of thousands of Punjabis and other Indo-Canadians every April. Politicians use the parade as an opportunity to impress the large and influential demographic. With the provincial election looming, this year was no exception.

Amid food, dancing, and floats, the Premier announced the creation of an office in Punjab to boost immigration to the province. Watch the slideshow to see what happened:

    The photo of the young man in turban and Canucks jersey should be adopted by the team. Every time I see the bus with the “We are all Canucks” ad on it, I wonder why the “fans” in the ad are so much paler and blonder than the Vancouverites on the bus!
