We have 2 cameras which look at the laneway behind 1177 Pacific Blvd.
The council claims they are the City of Vancouver’s. They are not. They even claim it in their privacy policy for Pacific Plaza. What are the odds that this complex is watching all the citizens of Vancouver

Great article. I wonder if it would be acceptably civilly disobedient to deface the unclaimed cameras: probably the one case where an eye-for-an-eye making the world blind would be a good thing.

This whole thing is really worrisome, and something everyone should care about!

I think we should organize a large-scale street theatre project aimed at drawing public attention to the existence and location of each of these cameras. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate “performance” for the cameras!

It would be nice if the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General were pursuing who owns the cameras downtown, ensuring that they all have the appropriate licenses and permissions.
