Jes Abeita

Jes Abeita hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. She is a member of the Pueblo of Isleta, a federally-recognized American Indian tribe in the U.S., and a first-year student at the UBC Graduate School of Journalism.

Abeita holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico in Native American Studies with a Journalism minor.

She has been published in various publications on topics ranging from  Native American voting rights to college study habits.

Abeita has interned at National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, Winds of Change Magazine, Native America Calling and National Native News.
