Amelia Bellamy-Royds
I came to the UBC School of Journalism to focus on science and health reporting, with a particular emphasis on health and environmental policy. In the meantime, however, I’ll be doing a lot of local reporting in and around the Kingsway corridor through eastern Vancouver.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Carleton University in Computational Biology specializing in Molecular Bioinformatics. In layman’s terms, that mean using computer programs to study problems in molecular biology and genetics. More recently, I worked as a research assistant at the Parliamentary Information and Research Service in Ottawa, writing briefing notes and background papers for politicians.
My studies and research are supported by a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Health Research Communication Award.
