Ursula Diaz


Ursula Diaz is a graduate student at the UBC’s School of Journalism.

She is from Mexico City where she completed her undergraduate degree in Communications. Her thesis focused on Mara Salvatrucha and the gang situation in El Salvador.

Her main area of interest is Latin American culture in the sixties.  Roberto Bolano is her favorite author.

Ursula completed an internship at the IMER (Mexican Institute of the Radio) as a reporter for the cultural beat. She freelanced for “El Economista” as a traveler writer. Her dream job is writing for “Babelia”, the cultural supplement of “El Pais” newspaper.

Her two dalmatians, Lou and Nico, are named after “The Velvet Underground & Nico” album. She loves music and look forward to working in music journalism.
